Some History of the Andaman Sea

The known history of the Andaman Sea 

started more or less with the arrival of colonialists, they kicked off the history of the Andaman Sea as we know it today. Before the Portuguese entered this waters only Chinese Junks visited the island world once or twice per year to trade goods with the natives which were the Salone in Myanmar language and Moken in Thai. Both had the same roots, they came around 2000 years ago from the Pacific Ocean between today Philippines and Australia. They are of a Negrito type not one of the Malay tribes usual in the part of the world. 

But this part of the world was already known before, e.g. Claudius Ptolemy the famous Greek, Egyptian and Roman universal scientist who lived in Alexandria mentioned the area in his writings several times one times he obviously indicated Phuket island as peoples passed by already at the time.
