A typical Andaman day trip destination from Phuket is Khao Lak and the Similan Islands one of the best dive sites in the world. The area around shows dark green colors everywhere with red, yellow, blue and other colors in between, it’s a pretty tropical countryside in lush green vegetation bordering the emerald waters of the Andaman Sea.

If you want to have a look around the Similan Islands either for diving or just enjoy the place it needs to book a tour either in Phuket or Khao Lak otherwise there is no way to do it. The boats are in the hand of travel agencies and they wont allow anyone to enter the speed boat without a tour ticket.

If you still want to try it on your own you could take the bus, car, motorbike or whatever and get to the Lam Ru pier a bit south of Khao Lak, there is a travel agent right at the jetty who maybe can arrange a place in a boat. A scuba dive supply ship is also moored there come before 8 am otherwise they are gone.
